UNIS Host Franklinton in a match of Conference Unbeatens along with South East Raleigh

The UNIS welcomed Franklinton and SE Raleigh to campus on Thursday night where the match saw the two remaining undefeated teams in the conference face off. The UNIs jumped out to an early lead 24-9 on the impressive pinning performances by Hunter Wood (120) Ben Nichols (132) and Isaiah Fleming (145). Franklinton's strong middle weights turned the tables bringing the score to 30 -24 with 4 remaining matches. With NCSSM only able to cover 1 of the 4 weight classes Franklinton was able to stretch the lead to 48-24 going into the final match. Lucas Ford once again came up big against a more experienced wrestler and was able to pin his opponent in the second period. Final Score Franklinton 48 NCSSM 30

Several wrestlers who do not always get the opportunity to start were able to get some exhibitions between matches. Hunter Wood had an impressive win moving up a weight class to face Franklinton's Issac Nash.

In the final match of the evening the UNIS performed well against SE Raleigh but came up just a little short in the final team score. With a few wrestlers out due to illness we needed to make the most of every match. Five UNIS did just that by pinning their opponents in convincing fashion. Ben Nichols (132) Isaiah Fleming (138) and Lucas Ford all pinned both their matches on the night and Ryan Greenblatt (113) and Ben Hawley (126) joined the pin parade against SE Raleigh. Final Score SE Raleigh 39 NCSSM 36
