UNI Wrestling splits a pair of duals at Reidsville

The Uni wrestlers travelled to 2017 conference opponent Reidsville for a set of matches with the host and visiting East Forsyth.  In the opening dual against East Forsyth the UNIs came out very strong building a 30-0 lead with pins recorded by Ryan Greenblatt, Hunter Wood, Ben Hawley and Ben Nichols followed by a forfeit for Isaiah Fleming.  The most exciting match of the night went to Gustavo Soso-Macias who battled from behind most of his match to reverse his opponent and secure a pin late in the third period to make it 36-6.  Unfortunately we did not have the upper weights and East Forsyth had a full squad so through forfeits they were able to secure a 42-36 final score win.

In our second dual of the night we faced Reidsville and again started very strong at the lower weights.  Ryan Greenblatt led us off with a dominating 16-0 technical fall followed by pins from Hunter Wood and Ben Nichols and a 9-1 major for Ben Hawley.  After forfeits at 145 and 152 for Jacob Smith and Isaiah Fleming, Ayden Hochstein put in an impressive performance for a pin at 160 pounds even though he was giving up nearly 15 pounds to his opponent.  Michael Lee and Jason Blaisdell also had good matches on the night and are improving every time they step out there.  Both teams were limited in the upper weights and the UNIs secured the win with a final score of 39-18.

Next match is November 30th when we host Southern Vance in our home and conference opener.
