2021-22 NCSSM Athletics Season Recap

Durham, N.C. - NCSSM Athletics celebrated a successful return to athletics after over a year off from varsity particpation.  A strong winter and spring seasons  followed a great fall season that completed the 2021-22 year.
 
NCSSM had one of the best years in school history with the following team accomplishments:
- One Super Six Conference Volleyball Tournament Championship
- Six Regular Season Conference Championships (Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer, Women's Cross Country, Men's Cross Country, Men's Tennis and Volleyball)
- Two 2A NCHSAA East Regional Runner Ups (Women's Golf, Men's Swimming)
- Three 2A NCHSAA East Regional Championships (Women's Cross Country, Men's Cross Country, Men's Tennis)
- One 2A NCHSAA State Individual State Championship with Raghav Srirarm & Parth Shirolkar winning in Men's Tennis Doubles 
- Two 2A NCHSAA State Championships in Women’s Cross Country and Men’s Tennis.
 
NCSSM will also receive the Wells Fargo Conference Cup for the best overall athletic program in the Super Six Athletic Conference.
 
During the 2021-22 year, NCSSM had 324 students participating in varsity sports. 66 of those students were named to all conference teams with seven being named a conference athlete of the year. NCSSM also had six conference coach of the year awards.
 
As a part of the end of year Athletic Awards, Valen Chapel was named NCSSM Top Athlete of the Year.  This is an award that showcases those student athletes who excel in their two years at NCSSM with extraordinary accomplishments while participating in multiple varsity sports. Valen was a multisport athlete, earning all conference in Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Year and Women's Cross Country while also participating on the Women's Basketball and Track teams.
