2022-23 Top Athlete and Spring All Conference Honors Announced
Durham, N.C. - The end of year Athletic Awards were announced with Harley Brumgard and Andrew Parker being named the NCSSM Top Athletes for 2022-23. Harley was named all conference in Women’s Golf and had a 13th place finish at regionals. She also was all conference in Softball and was the starting catcher for the Unicorns. Andrew led the men’s track and cross country teams will all conference honors. He took five state titles in the 1600M (Indoor and outdoor track), 3200M (indoor and outdoor) and in the 4x800M outdoor track relay.
The spring sports were led by the Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams. The men won the Super Six Conference Championship, Regional Championship and finished 6th at the State Championship. The women’s team took the Super Six Conference Championship, Regional Runner-up and 14th at the State Championship. The Unicorns were led by Individual State Champions at 1600M (Parker), 3200M (Parker) and 4x800M outdoor relay (Anderson Adu-Poku, Arthur Zhao, Rafferty Koontz and Parker).
Other spring highlights included individual state qualifiers in Men’s Tennis (Devin Armstrong
Aryan Vinay) and Men’s Golf (Luke Allen and William Givens). Women’s soccer qualified for the state playoffs and ended their season in the second round.
