2023-24 Top Athlete and Spring All Conference Honors Announced

Durham, N.C. - The end of year Athletic Awards were announced with Maren Donlan and Rafferty Koontz being named the NCSSM Top Athletes for 2023-24. Maren was a member of the volleyball and women’s basketball teams. She was named all-conference both years in women’s basketball. Rafferty was the Super Six Men’s Cross Country runner of the year and all-conference both years and had top five finishes (2nd (2023) and 5th (2022)) in the Cross Country State Championships. He was also named all conference in track and field in the 4x400 and 4x800.

2023-24 was one of the best years in school history with the following accomplishments:

4 Conference Championships:
- Women’s Cross Country
- Women’s Golf
- Men’s Track and Field
- Women’s Track and Field
2 Regional Championships:
- Women’s Cross Country
- Men’s Swimming
4 Regional Runner Ups:
- Men’s Cross Country
- Women’s Tennis
- Women’s Swimming
- Women’s Track and Field

State Level Acomplishments:

All of this with 313 students participating in varsity sports! There were a total of 69 students named to all conference teams with Rafferty Koontz and Catherine Parker being named all-conference cross country runners of the year.  Parker was also named women's track and field runner of the year while Payton Xander Bethea and Eleanor Keady picked up field athlete of the year honors. 

Women’s golf coach Taylor Greganti, swimming coach Michael Newbauer, women's soccer coach Charles Robinson and track and field coaches Phillip Marcelle and Cindy Peters-Freemand were conference coaches of the year.
