NCSSM Wrestling Splits in Opener

NCSSM Wrestling wins their season opener, goes 1-1 on the night

The NCSSM Wrestling team traveled to Eastern Alamance for duals against Eastern and Western Guilford.  In the opening match of the night the UNIs faced Western Guilford.  The team wrestled very well and secured wins in 7 of 8 contested matches for a final score of 39-24.  Leading the way were Ben Hawley, Ben Nichols and Gustavo Sosa-Macias with critical 6 point pins in the match.

In our second match of the night we faced a tough Eastern team and although we had the edge on wins 5-3 having some holes in our line-up resulted in some bonus points for Eastern and the final score was Eastern 39 NCSSM 24.

On the night every wrestler for NCSSM scored points for the team, a big accomplishment in our first week.  Coaches shout out to first time wrestlers Lucas Ford and Michael Lee.  Both competed very well on the night and Lucas secured a pin in 16 seconds in his second match, showing the experienced guys how to get it done.

Great work UNIs.  Next match away at Reidsville Tuesday the 29th and our first home match is Wednesday Nov. 30th.
