NCSSM Hosts First Round of State Playoffs
Durham, N.C. - NCSSM was fortunate to host the first and second round of the 1A State Dual Playoffs for the second year in a row. Traveling to NCSSM were Dixon, Ayden Grifton and North Rowan.
In the first round NCSSM faced off against Ayden Grifton and put up a good fight early in the dual. At the midpoint the team score was AG 18 NCSSM 15. With a solid AG upper weight squad along with a few forfeits in the upper weights for NCSSM Ayden Grifton was able to secure a 52-15 final match victory. Four NCSSM wrestlers won their individual matches in the dual. Duncan brown at 113, Henry Seiler at 138 and Matt Nichols at 145 all scored decisions for the UNIs. Nick McNamara got the crowd fired up with a fall in the 132 weight class in the second period.
In the other first round match North Rowan scored a late victory over Dixon with a final score of 41-28.
In the Second round North Rowan was again triumphant over Ayden Grifton. This dual also came down to the final two matches with North Rowan securing a 37-34 final victory and moving on to the state 1A Duals semi finals on Thursday night.
