Men's Cross Country Repeats with State Title, Fall Sports Conclude

Durham, N.C. - The Men's Cross Country team continued to dominate the season as they took their second 2A State title in a row.  Nick Walker finished as the top runner in the state championship to lead a team effort and take the title.  The Women's team also had a strong outing as they completed a sixth place finish.  Both teams took their conference championships during the regular season.  Head Coach Charlie Payne was named men's conference coach of the year.

The Women's Tennis team completed their season with a runner-up finish in the State Title match on Saturday as they lost 5-2 at the North Carolina State Indoor tennis courts.  The team continued their amazing string of state championship apperances and took the conference championship with ease.  Head Coach Richard McClenny was named conference coach of the year.

The Women's Golf team qualified for states as a team for the second year in a row and finished seventh overall.  The team also secured their second straight conference championship.  Head Coach Todd Benware in his first season, was named conference coach of the year.

The Men's Soccer team completed their season in the second round of the state playoffs as they fell 1-0 in overtime at Southwest Onslow.  The team finished a strong season and completed a second place finish in the conference.

The Women's Volleyball team finished their season in the state playoffs as they lost a hard fought game to conference foe Franklinton.  The team completed their highest finish in the 2A conference as they secured second place with a strong season.  Head Coach Davene Mainwearing was named conference coach of the year.

The cheerleading team will compete it their only meet of the year on November 15 as they will in the NCHSAA championships at the Raleigh Convention Center.
