NCSSM Athletics Updates - 09/12/13
Durham, N.C. - The fall sports season has begun and the Unicorns are off to a strong start. Below are the updates to start the season for NCSSM Athletics.
Men's Soccer - The soccer team has started
the season with a 3-2-2 record including a 2-1 Northern Carolina
Conference record. Highlights on the season include a 4-3
victory over non-conference Carrboro who was ranked #1 in the
EuroSport 2A NC rankings. The UNIs also amped up their
schedule with 4A opponents as they tied Ashley and lost on a
penalty kick to Middle Creek.
Women's Tennis - The tennis team is off to
their usual quick start as they have run right through the
conference schedule so far. The UNIs are 6-0 in conference
play including their last victory over DSA 8-1.
Volleyball - The volleyball team has faced a
tough schedule and are starting to find their groove. They
started their Northern Carolina schedule reeling off three straight
wins over Warren Country, Roanoke Rapids and DSA.
Men's and Women's Cross Country - The cross
country team has taken the new conference by storm with victories
in each of their first two Northern Carolina matches. In
their last meet at Roanoke Rapids, the men took five of the top six
spots while the ladies have five in the top 10 finishers.
Women's Golf - The women's golf team started
their season this week and won their first ever Northern Carolina
event in their first attempt on Monday. Senior Jessica Lee
tied for 1st place in the match and also scored her lowest round
with a 41.
