Spring Sports Recap

Durham, N.C. - The varsity sports season came to a close on Saturday as the men's tennis team completed their season in the NCHSAA 1A state championship. All of the spring teams had great last seasons in the 1A classification of the NCHSAA. The Unicorns are set to move up to the 2A classification next season in the Northern Carolina 2A conference.

Men's Tennis - The tennis team took the Carolina 12 1A and regional titles on the way to the State Championship match in Burlington on May 18. The Unicorns capped their season with the runner-up title. The team finished with a 16-3 overall record.

Men's Golf - The men's golf team had their best season ever as they competed as a team in the NCHSAA 1A State Championships at Chapel Hill Country Club. Along with their 7th place finish at states they took home 1st Place in the Carolina 12 1A and won the Regional Championship.

Baseball - Baseball took home five wins, all in the Carolina 12, in a season that saw a bright future for the team. The team had three all conference members and finished fourth in the 1A side of the bracket, just outside of the state playoffs.

Softball - The softball team finished with nine wins, including six within the Carolina 12, to gain a third place finish in the conference and played in the state playoffs.

Track and Field - The track teams both did well on the state level as the men finished fifth overall and the women were 23rd. In addition, the women earned a regional championship and the men were regional runner-ups.

Women's Soccer - The soccer team completed a second place finish in the Carolina 12 1A and shut out rival Raleigh Charter. The team finished with a 15-3-1 and a 12-2 conference record.

The seniors will be honored at an awards ceremony on Thursday at 2:30pm.
