Durham, N.C. – The spring sports seasons has started off successfully for all of the NCSSM athletic teams.  Highlights so far this season include:

Baseball:  The baseball team took three straight conference wins and currently holds a 3-4 record on the year.  The three wins featured strong run scoring with 10+ runs each game.  They next host Voyager on Tuesday before moving to senior night with River Mill on Friday.
Men’s Golf:  The golf team has been easily moving through the conference schedule with three first place finishes in as many tries.  The Unicorns host the Carolina 12 1A championships on April 23 at Hillandale Golf Course with tee times beginning at noon.
Women’s Soccer:  The soccer team is off to a great start as they have an 8-2-1 record on the season.  They just completed a 1-1 tie at 4A Middle Creek in a game that saw the team shorthanded with only 10 players the majority of the game.  The Unicorns host Raleigh Charter on Wednesday in a very important Carolina 12 matchup.
Softball: The softball team started the season with a few losses but has rebounded with a strong stretch and a 7-5 record.  The team is potent offensively with four games scoring 20 or more runs.  The team hosts River Mill on Friday in the second to last regular season home game as the senior team members are honored.
Men’s Tennis:  The tennis team has started the season with a perfect 1A win streak and currently stand at 8-1 on the year.  The team finishes up the regular season with home matches with River Mill (4/17) and Voyager Academy (4/22).
Track: The men’s and women’s track teams have done well so far in the spring season as several have already qualified for the state meets.  The team will compete in the Carolina 12 championships at Cedar Ridge High School on April 24 with the first event at 11 a.m.
